This urban planning competition was for a new town of 10,000 residents to be located 30 kilometers north of Jeddah, near the travel resort of Obhor Harbour.

In this plan, commercial, office, and hotel functions were located adjacent to an existing highway; behind this wall was a dense development of mostly single family residences with a central plaza containing the town’s mosque. The planning of the residential district took cues from traditional Middle Eastern town planning by having the buildings front narrow streets, with interior courtyards. Building types were developed for individual villas, duplex villas, and row houses.
